Exams
What to Expect
Exams for this course are typically a collection of multiple choice problems worth about 20% of the exam, followed by 4-6 longer problems, approximately half of which require you to write some code.
The two midterm exams are scheduled for 3 hours in the evenings. The final exam will follow the official final schedule.
Conflicts with other courses or exams will be accommodated via an alternatively scheduled exam. To arrange to take a conflict exam, please email Cinda your conflicting course info and NetID a week before the exam, including the word “conflict” in the subject of the email. Please try to schedule an alternative lab section meeting in classes whose policies admit such a change.
If you are deathly ill and cannot take an exam, you should get a note from the emergency dean and from McKinley health center, and send email to cs225help@cs.illinois.edu prior to the exam. If you miss an exam without an excuse you may take the exam for 80% credit, provided you contact the instructor within 24 hours of missing the exam. Be prepared to hear a lecture on engagement in coursework and responsible participation in your education. If you apply for a conflict exam and it is not granted, you forfeit the opportunity to take the exam for 80% credit if you miss it.
Regular exam hours is 2 hours. Everyone is offered an additional hour of extended time.
